On March 1, 2013 ADKT 487 was filed with the Supreme Court. The petition seeks to amend NRCP 26, 30 and 34. The biggest changes would narrow the scope of discovery, introduce specific e-discovery rules and restrict depositions to seven hours, in one day.
The proposal has generated a fair amount of attention, dominating conversation at the last two civil bench/bar meetings in Las Vegas and also coming up in several other functions. Some have already submitted written comments, available here, others have expressed an intent to do so. My written comments have been submitted, and I post my letter re ADKT 487 here for your consideration. Any written comments appropriately received by the Supreme Court are publicly available through its online docketing system. ADKT 487 is scheduled for a public hearing on June 6, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. in the Supreme Court’s chambers in Las Vegas. The hearing will also be videoconferenced to the Carson City chambers.
